Snapdragon 898 has official release date by Qualcomm
Snapdragon

The next generation of high-end Android smartphones will primarily be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 processor. This is the chipset that will replace the current Snapdragon 888 (and SD888+), now having an official release date.

The news has now been revealed by the North American Qualcomm through its website. There, on the company’s official website, we see confirmation of the usual annual product launch event, the Snapdragon Tech Summit.

It should be noted that the concrete date of unveiling of the new processor was not specified. However, it is expected that it is during this event that the technology reveals its next high-end processor for mobile devices.

In fact, considering the company’s history, the announcement of the Snapdragon 898 will most likely be the point of the entire event. Thus, similarly to what we have seen in previous editions, we have this presentation right at the start of the summit.

We also know, already according to unofficial sources, that this chip will effectively be one of the most celebrated points of the presentation event. It will be, for the entire mobile industry, the beginning of a new era that will guide much of 2022.

The list of manufacturers will be considerably longer. However, we already have several brand confirmations that will use this mobile device. Among these, we can confirm now Xiaomi, Honor, Vivo, Samsung, Motorola, Oppo, Huawei, ZTE, Asus, Black Shark, Lenovo, Nubia, Realme, OnePlus, Sharp, among others.

In fact, over the next few days, we will see a competition between Chinese manufacturers to launch a phone with this chip first. We recall, by the way, that in 2020 this title belonged to Xiaomi and her Xiaomi Mi 11.

In 2021, once again, we have Xiaomi in the list of main candidates for this possibility. Indeed, we have the new Xiaomi 12 smartphones to be among the first, if not the first, to integrate these new processors.

The top processor for 2022 will be the Snapdragon 898
Naturally high, expectations point to a processor built to 4nm lithography, a process developed by Samsung. Apparently, it will follow the configuration of 1+3+4 cores (cluster configuration).

It will first have “super” 3GHz Cortex X2 cores, with the Adreno 730 graphics and the X65 modem capable of download speeds of up to 10GB/s.

Ultimately, the overall performance of the Snapdragon 898 is expected to be 20% higher than the current Snapdragon 888.
