PJ arrests four international drug dealers in Lisbon (Portugal)

The multinational criminal organization brought to Europe drugs hidden in bean bags and pallets from Latin America. 117 kilos of cocaine were seized.

The PJ’s National Unit for Combating Narcotics Traffic detained in the Greater Lisbon region four men, all foreigners and aged between 44 and 59, suspected of belonging to an international criminal organization dedicated to the introduction of large amounts of cocaine on Europe.

During this operation, called Axipeto and which had the cooperation of the Tax Authority, it was possible to seize, at different times, around 117 kilos of cocaine in two containers of beans for human consumption. The cargo came from a port in Latin America and had been imported by a company based in the Lisbon region.

“In one of the containers the drug was concealed inside some of the bags where the beans were stored, while in the other the cocaine was concealed in the structure of some of the pallets, on which the bean bags were stacked, inside the container, which made its detection exceptionally difficult and laborious”, explains the PJ in a statement.

The four detainees were presented for the first judicial interrogation, having been subjected to the coercion measure of preventive detention. The investigation continues.
