Berlin outlaws Muslim organization for alleged link to terrorism

The German government has banned a Muslim organization accused of supporting global terrorism through donations, the Interior Ministry announced.

Police searched Ansaar International-related buildings in ten German states, said the Interior Ministry of the Berlin Government.

The ministry claims that the money the organization raises for alleged aid projects is channeled to radical groups Nusra Front, linked to Al Qaeda in Syria, Hamas in Palestine, or al-Shabab in Somalia.

More than a thousand police officers were involved in the raids, with 150,000 euros in cash confiscated.

According to Interior Minister Horst Seehofer, the organization Ansaar International spreads “Salafist views of the world”, finances terror around the world in the guise of humanitarian aid.
