A suicide attack on a Catholic church in Indonesia left at least 14 wounded, some of them seriously. Everything happened in the city of Makassar.
Some witnesses say that two men tried to get on a motorcycle inside the church but were stopped by security guards and ended up blowing themselves up outside. Police have cordoned off the area and are trying to ascertain whether there will be fatalities, in addition to the deaths of the two attackers.
So far the attack has not been claimed. Churches are usually a target of extremists in Indonesia, the largest Muslim-majority nation in the world. Today’s attack, on full Palm Sunday, was evoked by the Pope this morning at the Vatican.
